When he could finally take the tablet to study, Mevlüde had often spent hours dealing with six brothers, working in the fields and taking care of the goats.
He was 18 years old and a very precise goal: to enter the university.
Mevlüde Duran lives with his family in Belen district, in the Turkish province of Hatay.
His parents work in agriculture and the family leads a simple life, in a two-room house.
Mevlüde is the greatest of seven children.
This means that his day could not only be organized around the studio.
There were the younger brothers to take care of.
There were family crops of tomatoes and cucumbers to devote to.
There were goats to feed.
Only after finishing these tasks came the time to study and follow the lessons on the tablet.
While many students could devote most of their days to preparing the national examination of admission to the university, Mevlüde had to cut out that space between one responsibility and the other.
The result came on the day of the exam.
He obtained 501 points and reached 640° nationally in his category.
Behind that number, however, there were months during which each available hour had a huge value.
For Mevlüde, the goal is not only university access.
He wants to study law at the University of Istanbul and dreams of becoming a judge.
He also explained why.
He wants to make right decisions, achieve his own economic independence and become a woman who can freely express what he thinks.
And this is perhaps the detail that allows you to really understand its determination.
The study, for her, is not simply the path to a prestigious profession.
It is a tool to build autonomy.
The history of Mevlüde does not show that the difficulties are necessary to succeed. Having time, tranquility and resources to study remains a huge advantage that every guy should have.
Prove something different.
Talent can also exist where opportunities are few.
And sometimes, before you can open a book, you have to wait for the tomatoes, feed the animals and care about six younger brothers.
Then he finally gets his turn.
And Mevlüde studies to build his life.
