Marriage was over for years. The bond with that 98-year-old man, however, no.
In October 2021, Marian Turcios Korea published a video showing his mother while taking care of the elderly paternal grandfather.
According to Marian’s story, her parents had separated a long time before, after her father had chosen another woman.
It could have been the end of everything that belonged to that family.
It wasn't.
In the video, Marian's mother helped the man sit on the bed, changed his clothes and looked after him gently. Marian said that she was washing it, she changed it and continued to assist him with affection despite years since the end of marriage.
The elder was 98 years old.
And that's what makes history special.
The separation had changed the relationship between husband and wife, but had not automatically erased all other bonds built over time.
For that woman, the elderly man had not suddenly become a stranger only because marriage with his son was finished.
He was still a fragile person who had been part of his life.
Over the years, versions have also been circulated that the elder would be completely abandoned by his son. But this detail does not emerge clearly from Marian's original story and does not serve to understand the meaning of the story.
The important part is already there.
A sentimental relationship can end badly. Anger can stay. Families can split up.
But sometimes a person chooses not to let the received pain also decide the way they will treat someone else.
His mother was no longer protecting a marriage.
He was simply continuing to take care of a human being who, after so many years, still considered part of his own history.
