There were ten minutes left at the beginning of the lectures when a mother discovered that the morning at school had been organized a moment dedicated to children and their fathers.
Yevette Vasquez was driving his son Elijah to school, 12 years old, in the area of Fort Worth, Texas, when he noticed an unusual number of cars in the parking lot.
He asked what was going on.
Elijah explained to her that that morning there was "Donuts with Dad", a meeting organized by the school to allow students to spend some time with their fathers.
Yevette, a single mother, joked that she could disguise herself as a man and accompany her.
Elijah's answer surprises her.
He pointed out that there were still ten minutes left to the sound of the bell.
That was enough.
Yevette improvised.
Baseball cap, square shirt, fake mustache and even some male perfume.
Then he entered the school library next to his son.
There were so many fathers in there with their children. When the other parents realized that mother came dressed as father, several of them started applauding her and typing for her.
Elijah smiled.
They finally did what they had come to do: they sat down, ate donuts and took pictures together.
After the event it was Elijah who asked her mother to publish on Facebook the photos they had taken.
The images began to circulate quickly and their history reached many people.
But the value of that morning is not measured in the shares.
He's in those ten minutes.
Yevette couldn't be the father of that day.
However, he could make Elijah participate with others.
And so, with a square shirt and a pair of fake mustache put in a hurry, he turned any morning into a memory that his son could carry with him.
Sometimes being present does not mean having the role written on the invitation.
It means to realize that someone we love could stay out and find, even in just ten minutes, a way to sit next to him.
