Ricky didn't know he was abandoned. A man took him to the shelter saying he was a stray dog. But when the staff countered the microchip, he discovered that the man was his owner.
Ricky's five. He's anxious and sensitive. During the walks, it was sweet and quiet. But the noises, the barking of other dogs and life in the box sent him into crisis.
After weeks spent in the shelter without accommodation for him, Ricky ended up on the list of dogs at risk of euthanasia. There was a deadline: 16:00 on August 10. If no one intervened, Ricky would have risked being euthanasia.
Courtney Tillia saw her story on Instagram. She didn't know him, but something in that dog hit her. He was looking for a solution, and when he contacted the shelter, he discovered that Ricky was still alive.
He went to get it.
Ricky's recovering now. He lived the fear and stress of the refuge, but now he can walk, play, rest in his wedge and count on someone willing to take care of him.
Courtney describes him as a happy, funny and sweet dog.
We don't know exactly why his owner decided to leave him. But we know Ricky had a second chance.
And today, seeing him walk, play and stop sniffing flowers tells perhaps better than any word what it means to have received a second chance.
