It was supposed to be a biker ride in front of a six-year-old boy's house. About 15,000 came.
Kilian Sass lived in Rhauderfehn, Germany, and was seriously ill of cancer. When it became clear that the disease was now incurable, the people who were close to him sought a way to give him a special day.
Kilian had a great passion: motorcycles and motocross.
The idea was simple.
To pass motorcyclists in front of his house and allow him to listen to the roar of their engines.
The appeal, however, ended on the Internet.
And he started traveling.
On 24 July 2021, in Rhauderfehn, Lower Saxony, motorcyclists from different parts of Germany began arriving.
With the passing of hours it became evident that that would not be a small manifestation.
The streets filled with motorcycles, scooters, tricycles and quads.
According to police estimates, about 15,000 bikers participated.
The event was named "Krach für Kilian", meaning "Monour for Kilian".
For almost three hours, a very long caravan crossed the area through its house.
Kilian was watching from the window.
This is perhaps the image that better tells what happened that day: a six-year-old child who watched thousands of strangers come to pass in front of the house after knowing about his desire.
They came because the noise of their engines could make him happy.
A few weeks later, on 17 August 2021, Kilian died.
She was only six.
That day could not change his diagnosis and could not stop the disease.
But he could do something that, at that time, had a huge value: to transform for a few hours a desire in reality.
Everything began with an appeal to motorcyclists.
The Internet brought that message farther.
And about 15,000 bikers decided to participate.
That day Kilian wanted to hear engine noise.
In front of his window came the roar of thousands of motorcycles and, together with that noise, the presence of thousands of people who had decided to be there for him.
